"Is there anybody there?" said the traveller,
knocking on the moonlit door
i opened my soul to him
he listened to what I said
he heard what I said
he believed what I said
i trusted him
he did not lecture me
he did not try to change me
he accepted me
i trusted him
he was
my friend
a traveller....the best to open our soul to...

sounds like a friend we all like to have, as it is written in the past tense, I am wondering it might be that this friend turn on you, the line "I trusted him" always seems to me to be a truth we all said after a betrayal but I am sure that is not your intention with this poem, I often read too much into things

ReplyDeleteyour thought is interesting. i was trying to indicated what a real friend would be. someone to trust with your heart and soul. it is true that the betrayal issue tugs at us all. it is also true that many blogger's short prompted stories end up in betrayal (including mine). maybe betrayal is a bigger part of our lives than we are aware of. maybe i should have used the present tense "trust". i'll ask my friend
thank you for your thoughts
