Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. This is an old adage I've heard for years. But what is shame but a feeling you have when you get caught or fooled.
Nothing can cover a man or woman so completely as the fog of shame engulfing guilty souls when they are caught. It is strange to me that guilt can walk so proud until it is discovered.
Guilt can walk proudly. I never realised this aspect. Nice one
ReplyDeletevery true. guilt can rule us all..
ReplyDeleteI like that you mentioned fooled because so many people think shame comes solely from guilt. Sure we might feel guilty we have been fooled, but nonetheless the guilt is not ours we just happen to live it. I also like the phrase fog of shame... that is what it feels like, a haze!
ReplyDeleteVery true ~ nice write, for sure.
ReplyDeleteInteresting angle about shame by talking about guilt. That is true for many people.
ReplyDeleteShame and guilt are so closely related that we use them together.
ReplyDeleteThe fool, me once, fool me twice, bit is so true isn't it.
