Faith

Faith is a word with many meanings and connotations.  It means different things to different people.

I like to use the word as it applies to people and my relationship to others.  I say faith is a belief in people.  Faith is trusting in people.  I have faith in my fellow human beings.  I believe that given the opportunity to do a good and honorable thing, all people will do it.  Even those that society has beaten into the ground will rise up and help someone else when needed.

Yes, for me faith is very simple.

Faith is trust in my fellow human beings.

  1. This is very close to what I believe. Thank you for wording it so well.

  2. OG, i find it admirable that you have such faith in human beings. I wish that i could...but this is my personal trial. For me, for now, it will have to suffice that I have faith that god will not bring anyone into my life who wishes to do me harm.
I'd like to feel like you. Nicely said.

  4. I'm close to where you are. I do believe there are people who are just plain evil, but I also believe they are rare and the exception to the rule. Most people, most of the time, wish others no ill will, unless they feel threatened.

  6. You have no argument from me on your interpretation. I just want to keep out of the way of the plain evil people that Bunnygirl mentions.

  9. I believe most of the people you meet in your daily lives are, like you, just trying to get through the day, pay the mortgage, take care of the kids, fix the broken washing machine and so on. They may hurt you, but not out of some diabolical plan they are hatching to create chaos and destruction everywhere they go. Just as an aside because they (and I) are focused on what they are carrying on their own plate. Doesn't matter what religion, race, or creed. Life is hard and busy and full of irritants. We just need to remember that everyone else is carrying a heavy plate too. Usually a kind word or the taking of one tiny morsel off that plate to lighten their load can change their outlook from inward focus and grouchiness to relief and friendliness. Well said Grizz :)
